Providing sustainable, farm-grown African foods to support our community’s nutritional needs while creating employment opportunities and preserving cultural heritage.
African Foods, Food Bank is a registered non-profit organization headquartered in Surrey, British Columbia, to provide nutritious culturally relevant foods to the Black, African, and Caribbean communities Canada-wide.
African Foods Food Bank has been operational since 2018, founded by Kara-Kata Afrobeat Society. In 2024, Kara-Kata Afrobeat Society, Canadian Black Farmers Association, and HeadHeartHand Foundation collaboratively formed African Foods, Food Bank as a non-profit organization to serve our community more effectively and reach more individuals and families in need.
At this time, we are building our operational capacity, planting and cultivating our produce on the farm, along with our monthly food bank, and food hamper services. (Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, British Columbia only at present).
